Welcome to my studio! Music is an exciting endeavor. The benefits of learning the
piano are innumerous, affecting the mind, intellect, and emotions. I will do everything I can to make
lessons fun, exciting, and rewarding. In exchange, there are a few things I ask of you.
Payment Policy- Lesson fees are paid on a monthly tuition basis of $125 (for a half hour lesson every
week or 1 hr. lesson every other week). Your tuition reserves your timeslot in my schedule (including
childcare for my son), maintenance of the studio equipment (including tuning and repairs), recitals
(held twice per year), lesson planning (including acquiring sheet music materials and method books),
and administrative upkeep.
Cancellation Policy- In the case of cancellation, prior notification of an absence does not exempt the
student from payment. I will be happy to reschedule the lesson, as my schedule allows, if I am given
at least 24 hours notice. If I have to cancel a lesson, I will credit you for the next month.
Books and Materials- Students will be advised as to what materials to obtain and where they can be
purchased. On occasion, I can acquire materials, but must be fully reimbursed by the next lesson.
Practice and Preparation- Student assignments and progress will be recorded in a notebook that must
be brought to each lesson. Practice is important to ensure that the student is not only retaining
information from one lesson to the next, but improving. Parents are encouraged to check the
note-books regularly and relay small goals to the student during practice. (It may be tempting to set a
specific time period for practice, but this only encourages students to be 'clock-watchers.')
Recitals- Students have the opportunity to perform in semi-annual recitals. Recitals can be a
motivating experience for students to prepare a special piece to play for an audience. While these
performance opportunities are completely optional, students usually feel a great sense of
accomplishment when they have participated in a recital.
Note- Please have students arrive at lessons on time, with materials, and ready to play. Clean hands
and trimmed fingernails are greatly appreciated.
Feel free to contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns. Thank you!
